VOLKS HG VERMILLION GLASS EYES - BLACK LINE VERSUS WHITE LINE

Volks makes two different types of "Vermillion" (red) eyes - Vermillion B and Vermillion W. When I came into possession of both types in the same size, I took these comparison shots in the hope that it might be helpful to someone trying to choose.

Eyes placed side by side in the Volks case. Both eyes are 18mm; as you can see, "white line" eyes (Vermillion W) have white threading, whereas the "black line" (Vermillion B) have black. I'm inclined to confirm what seems to be the general opinion; the W is a pretty true red, while the B is deeper shade more like a crimson.

In the head. My School Head A is modeling. The white threading becomes much less obvious when the eyes are in; from any distance the threading is not visible.

You'll notice that when placed side by side, the B has a shadowy appearance; it gives more apparent depth, but it's definitely a different look.

Though it's absolutely a matter of taste in the end, I'd say the W would be more suited to dolls you'd just like to have red eyes and the B more suited to an "evil" or darker personality (between these two options). I haven't had the chance to compare to other companies' reds, or any of the Zoukeimura eyes.

Lastly, same combination of eyes (W on viewer's left, B on right), but with a wig to try and give a better idea . . . click for enlargement.
